OAPD’s enterprise projects form part of its Work, Employment & Skills Development programme. They create opportunities for practical skills development, purposeful participation and income generation.
Purpose Garden creates meaningful opportunities through gardening and food production. The project combines practical growing skills, purposeful participation and fresh local produce, while giving persons with disabilities opportunities to contribute, learn and develop.
OAPD’s gardening activities include vegetable growing in Mount Pleasant and Zwelihle as well as greenhouse production of vegetables, plants and trees.

Overstrand Abalone Craft Studio grew out of a partnership with Abagold’s CSI component/Abagold Development Trust, and has operated since July 2018.
The project gives discarded abalone shells a new purpose while creating skills development and work opportunities for persons with disabilities.
Over the years, participants have developed handcrafted products including wall clocks, house numbers, Christmas trees, chandeliers, jewellery and other décor and bespoke items.
The Studio combines creativity, practical skills and meaningful work, while connecting the product to the people and coastal communities behind it.
